Introduction to Thread Painting Class
Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Mission Viejo, CA
Finally! I am getting down to teaching the thread painting techniques that you may have seen me demonstrating at various art shows around Southern California. If you want to learn my secrets, this class is for you.
This will be a hands on class where we will make a small thread painting such as the one pictured above. You will need to have a basic knowledge of how to use your sewing machine to make a straight stitch. If you know how to use the darning foot, that's even better, but not necessary.
I will provide all of the materials needed for completing the project including fabric, thread, interfacing, etc.
You will need to bring the following:
• small iron
• ironing surface or towel
• sewing machine
I will bring a couple of extra irons in case you don't have a small one. I will also bring two of my Pfaff sewing machines for use during the class if you don't want to bring your own.
The fee for the class is $45 and includes all materials to complete a project. It will be held on Sunday, October 30 from 12-3pm at the Norman P. Murray Center in Mission Viejo, California.
I had lots of fun and received many compliments for my art. I enjoyed reading the comments in my guest book and hearing, "Your work is beautiful." Once in a while I get a complement like this. It came from someone named Darleen who did not leave any contact information:
“My son and I attended the festival and yours is one of the select number of cards I actually did pick up. Thank you for sharing your art talent with us. We really enjoyed it… So thanks again. I wanted to express my appreciation for the way you beautify the world.”
What a wonderful thing to hear on my voice mail! That just made my day. So, Darleen, if you're out there, thank you!
For those of you who have been following the progress, this was as far as I was able to complete on the View of the Lake piece before the Art-A-Fair show ended. The houses were taking longer than expected. You can still see the work-in-progress photos on myFacebook page. I love the way it looks so far. Not sure when I will get this finished. I have other things to make for upcoming shows.
And speaking of shows, Here's the next place where I will be showing my work. It's theSeasons of the Heart Craft Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. This is one of my favorite craft shows. There are lots of wonderful things there and I always seem to go home with more goodies than I intended. Hope to see you this weekend!
