How I Spent My Summer Vacation
This was my very first pictorial quilt. It was based on two photographs taken in Hawaii. If you look very closely you can see the green flash from the setting sun.
The entire background is tiny scraps of fabric which have been layered on top of fusible fleece. The piece was then stippled with a very tiny stippling stitch. Free motion threadwork gives the effect of the setting sun. The palm trees were cut from upholstery velour and appliquéd on.
This piece measures about 18" x 24".
